Black Hair Care Wars: Blacks Vs. The World

Even if you have to view the clips of Aron Ranen's Black Hair Documentary in staggered phases, like I did, don't miss this eye-opening experience and a call to action. What's demonstrated in the videos should not be happening.



The black hair care industry is pegged at over a billion dollars driven by black women.

But where is the money going? Although the video clips posted here focus on the Black vs. Korean conflict, everybody, based on my observation, wants a piece of the pie including other Asians, American whites, Europeans, and in many instances - Arabs.

While it might seem like African-Americans should be flattered because others are vying for a slice of the black hair care sweet potato pie, black control is steadily shrinking down to the size of a tart - in every sense of the word. Simply put, the money spent by our own people on black hair care products is going outside of the black community making others RICH and arrogant.



More and more, black hair care companies are being bought and bartered by non-blacks; and the remaining black-owned manufacturers and retail enterprises are being shut out of a market, which was born and nurtured by blacks when no one else gave a damn about black people or our beautiful naps and kinks.

Can non-blacks really relate to the complexities of black hair and history or are they just in it for the money? Definitely the latter and they have been smart about capitalizing, but now that smartness has escalated into shrewdness and it has to stop.



Sharing the market is still okay, but pulling the rug from underneath black businesses of any kind is simply not acceptable; and the only people that can reverse this escalating trend are people of African descent by changing purchasing habits.

[Note: Wal-Mart can charge "Everyday Low Prices" because they have a gazillion stores from coast-to-coast and major buying power from vendors. Same with Korean-owned beauty stores catering to blacks. If black purchasing power was shifted or balanced out, making the beauty retail market more competitive, black-owned stores could grow, compete and have lower prices.]



The way I see it, there is no room for anyone to complain about social problems that exist in the black community if you are not doing your part to elevate it. People are living large off our dollars. Let's re-circulate the dollar more in the black community by patronizing black businesses and encouraging entrepreneurialism.
