Bobby Cutts, Jr. vs. Christopher Vaughn

Two whodunit stories. One perp black, the other white. But has one story been covered more by the media because of race?

I wonder.

Bobby Cutts, Jr., the ticking time bomb scumbag cop who apparently has an affection for white women, has admitted to killing Jessie Marie Davis and their unborn daughter, ChloƩ, according to the latest media reports. How sad it is when any person is senselessly killed and dumped - like a body somewhere in Fallujah, Iraq - in an isolated field.

Admittedly though, I had hoped evidence would lead to some other homicidal maniac(s) being responsible for Davis' disappearance only to prove all of the news pundits wrong, but I guess some of those people actually knew what they were talking about for a change.

Maybe it was because Davis was pregnant, but what I have found very interesting this week is the attention the Davis story has received from the mainstream media and law enforcement. We know the mainstream media loves them some stories about missing white women and white children; and there seemed to be more FBI agents on this case than those looking for Osama Bin Laden.

Larry King, Anderson Cooper, Nancy Drew Grace, Bill O'Reilly, Hannity and Colmes, The Today Show etc. etc. have been on this Cutts/Davis story like flies on food at an outdoor picnic. CNN's Anderson Cooper even followed his Jessie Davis story with an O.J. Simpson story. Was it coincidental or deliberate paralelling? Hmmmmmm.

On some news shows, the Cutts/Davis story took precedence over the story about nine firefighters in Charleston, South Carolina, who died after a furniture store's roof collasped on them while they were fighting a ferocious fire.

And ironically, around the same time Jessie Marie Davis was discovered missing by her mother and sister, four members of a white suburban Chicago family were found shot to death. The only survivor was the father, Christopher Vaughn, who was shot in the thigh. Speculation swirled all week about who was responsible for the murders.

Interestingly, the leading media story today and all last week was about Bobby Cutts, Jr. and the search for Jessie Davis. The media seemed to care less about the Vaughn story although four people, including three children, were dead. Why? Both crimes are equally henious if you ask me. What monster could kill a woman and her three children? What monster could possibly abduct and kill a pregnant woman?

Today, like Bobby Cutts, Jr. who was arrested in Ohio, Christopher Vaughn was also arrested. Christopher Vaughn was arrested two hours prior to the funeral of his family in St. Charles County, Missouri (suburban St. Louis) where the family originated; yet, so far, there has not been a mention of Vaughn's arrest that I have been able to observe on the weekend news shows.

As sad and tragic as the Jessie Davis story is, I can't help but wonder if this story had involved a missing pregnant black or Latina woman if it would have the same media traction.

I seriously doubt it.

I'd never even heard of the Vaughn case until I read this blog and the reasons you site for its lack of exposure are probably right on target. It's frustrating to watch the news when all you tend to see are blacks who've committed crimes and crimes by whites are probably deliberately underreported.

The reason so much media gave attention to the Jessie Davis case was that she was still MISSING until yesterday and her 2 year old son was the only witness. And there was a sense of urgency to try to find the woman because she was due any day to give birth. The two other cases sited as comparisons are a stretch and weak. And to say that it's because of race is BS.

Blacks commit a disproportionate amount of violent crimes vs other races, that is a fact. Perhaps that's why that is why more blacks are being covered in violent crime cases in the media.

I ran across this blog during a google search. I love your writing and what you had to say about the Jessie Davis/Bobby Cutts story. It is tragic that the woman and her unborn baby were murdered, and deeply embarassing on another level to the Af-Am community because Cutts is black. It conjures up a whole lot of ugly stereotypes that are never too far from the surface. It's a sad story all around: As a woman, I kept asking myself: "Why in the hell would she have two kids with somebody else's husband?" I know stuff like that happens, but ... here's one of the tragic consequences. This man probably didn't want any more financial responsibilities, e.g., more child support, and his wife was "out" as far as he goes. He may have been facing financial ruin or something. Of course, there's no justification for what he is alleged to have done. I think Davis bears some responsibility for the choices she made. He obviously didn't love or care for her or about her. It is a cautionary tale.

A Canton,Ohio police officer(to protect and serve. Remember?) murders his pregnant girlfriend, leave HIS two year old son in the duplex alone, denies any knowledge of her where abouts, cons his church and pastor into believing his story, denies Jessies family any sort of closure that could be had at such a tragedy and we are to believe that race is a factor in the media coverage? You are kidding. Right?

I am going to have to agree with the second anonymous comment. The sense of urgency to find a MISSING pregnant woman due to give birth soon far out weighs the fact that the perpetrator is black. The fact is-- she was pregnant and vulnerable. Get over your ridiculous racism speculation and try to remember that a mother and child were murdered. As for the third comment left about Davis bearing some responsibility for the choices she made, If I could reach thru my lap top and b**tch slap you I would. ---Pregnant w/ a 2 yr old son

You've got to be kidding, race had nothing to do with the coverage of this tragedy. To constanty draw the race card every time an African American is involved does a great disservice to us all. It's like a boy who cried wolf.
As for the poster who thought that she(Jessie) was somewhat responsible for her fate as she had an affair with a married man, give me a break. How narrow minded, judgemental and wrong can one person be. Shame on you!

I find it interesting that none of you "anonymous" posters have addressed my position that if Jessie Davis had been a black or Latina woman this story would not have the national spotlight or traction that it has.

Also, no one can deny this story has taken on an "O.J." tone it, which I believe was one of the driving forces behind the media's coverage. Did any of you witness the direct and subtle comparisons to the OJ story throughout last week by panelists on some news shows? I believe it is one reason why the Vaughn story took a back seat - although it too was a "whodunit" story which had MORE victims.

Furthermore, my position has more to do with the race of victims - many who are minority and are never covered to this extent by the media.

Also, my position is about how the media magnifies such stories involving white female victims. Again, Jessie Davis and her family DESERVES attention, but so do the other missing persons and victims of domestic abuse and violence.

I knew he was the one the minute I heard the story, and the minute I saw Nancy Grace hop on it, I knew it was going to be all over the place, her disdain for men, and black men in particular was all she needed to foam at the bit. In my local paper, Arizona Republic today, huge article about the dead woman with his mug shot, and 3 lines about the white dude who "allegedly" killed his whole family. Black women and Latin and Asian women who disappear seldom make the news, even local news, but, any white woman that does is a major news event. And, this one is even more salacious and worthy of their "insight" as she was white and he's black, all the taboos that this country loves. And, they even found a way to throw in the missing, young, blond Holloway girl from the year long Aruba search.

All that said, may she rest in peace and he fries, what sort of coward kills a pregnant woman, with his kid?

I find it interesting how Terrance is crying racism when the blog is titled "Real Raw Black" and that's not being racist.

If there was a blog entitled "Real Raw White", well we know the double standard - Al Sharpton & Jessee - the " Professional Race Peddlers" would be crying foul and demanding the site shut down.

By the way, I remember Latoya Figueroa recieved quite a bit of attention under similar circumstances, and she's black.

Rev Al, and Jesse, please, they don't speak for all black people anymore than Bush speaks for all whites. In the real world of the American press, a blond white woman missing always gets more press. Is it racist? part of me says yes, and the other part says maybe, it could be due to the fact that the missing women have familes who know who to call and keep it in the news. This case is sadly one of many where women who are pregnant are killed by the baby daddy. Its a shame that ALL of these vile cases are not newsworthy.

And, about his site being racist, nah, he talks about what he knows, being a black man, nothing wrong with that to me. Or should he write about high society in the Hamptons this summer?

^LOL! The assertion that this blog is racist is laughable - and I am being kind. Everyone is welcomed to post here as long as they keep it respectful. "Black" describes a part of who I am and the primary issues discussed here - not how I treat people. Even racists/bigots can get a little love here - if they keep it respectful.

Also,

Latoyia Figueroa was not only African-American, she was Puerto Rican as well. Yes, she was pregnant and was strangled to death by Stephen Poaches - the father of her unborn child - but the Figueroa case was the lightening rod that sparked the debate about the "Missing White Woman Syndrome".

Natalie Holloway was missing in Aruba and deserved attention, but Figueroa was garnering little to no attention AND she was pregnant.

National attention only began to get focused on Figueroa's case BECAUSE people raised enough hell about the media's handling of such stories in light of the Holloway story.

Since then, it seems the media has returned to original form.

Right now, there is a young black woman, Stepha Henry, a 22-year old college graduate and aspiring attorney, who has been missing in Miami since May.

How much coverage has Stepha Henry received? Paris Hilton has received more coverage since May than Stepha Henry.

You are soooooooooo right on every account you stated. We all know it's racism. Why can't people admit it. What makes a story about a black person killing a white person more newsworthy is that it perpetuates the stereotypes of the black man. The white woman is still that precious gem that the media holds in high regard. Now if someone wants to say that my statements are racist. So what.

I was not aware that Davis' boyfriend was black until I saw his mug shot (but I only followed the story through the Internet).

My first thought was, "Figures." My second thought was, "That's what happens when a white woman marries a black man."

Why such reactions? Just take a gander at the national statistics for violent crime. The facts speak for themselves - blacks commit a grossly disproportionate amount of violent crime against whites than vice versa. You are aware of the stats and how to find/view them, right?

You should find comfort that the next (rare) occasion of white-on-black crime will receive PLENTY of media attention. The Two Reverends will scream from every pulpit, riots will be started, allegations of race will come to the surface. It happens every time!

As for those calling this site racist, I have to disagree. There is nothing racist here. I do agree that this site would be shut down if it were labeled "white." It's sad but true.

I'm a white professor of sociology at a Canadian college, and it pains me to say that there would have been less news coverage if the victim had been Black. There is still so much racism that is alive and well in the US and Canada, but most people won't see it unless it is brought to light.
At one time, I watched some of the American reality shows like Cops and 48, but seeing that most alleged perps were Black, and knowing how distorted this information was, made me look for more enlightening TV. Shows like "Cops" and "48" continue to give unenlightened whites, and some Blacks, the opportunity to say "Yah, I knew it - it had to be someone Black who would commit this crime". These same people don't bother to look into the issues of poverty and racism and understand the impact that these two social problems have on unemployment, crime, housing, etc.
The problem is much deeper than media coverage and TV programs, and I don't think that we will "fix it" on a blog, but it is freeing to have this forum to discuss our views.
PS I, too, hoped that it was not Mr. Cutts, but murderers (if he is guilty) come in all sizes and races. In fact, just look at the race of most serial murderers in the US. Very few are naything but white.

From what I heard, that white Jesse Marie Davis woman was a manipulative, lying and permiscuous and used Cutts and many other Black men to satisfy her self. She was frequently with his friends, she had an obsession with Black men and would often post on-line for all-Black 'gangbangs' even while 8 month pregnant. She was well-known in the immediate area as someone who enjoyed getting extremely rough sex-play by Black men. I am certain however that THAT part will be left out of the media.

The American media liked to portray Black males as evil and EVERY white woman is pure and without sin. I am not saying that anyone deserves death here but I am saying that if what we are hearing about this woman Jesse is true than perhaps there is much more to the story than we being lead to believe. Perhaps this woman just got back from one of her sexual escapades and Mr. Cutts found her like he said and is not responsible for her death. Perhaps someone else or several others are responsible for this. Maybe Jesse was not very nice at all and used our Brother (and Sistas) to fullfull her own sexual desires; she was sleeping with a married man and was pregnant wit her second child by him. I am tired of hearing about white women always being the 'victim' and a Black man always the perp!

My heart goes out to the family of Jesse Davis. I am disgusted with Mr. Cutts Jr. I don't think he planned on killing her however he lost control and then went on a panicking mode. I personally don't want to say anything negative about the victim, because no matter what no one deserve to have their life as well as the life of their unborn child taken away by anybody.
Is the media bias, the answer is "yes" lets leave it as that.

I think however the thing that alot of people fail to realize is that we are in a constant battle between good and evil. The devil will use any means necessary to destroy the image Christ has for us. The devil works through Mr. Cutts, the media, and each and everyone of use in one way or another. I or some of you may say I would never do this or commit such a crime, but the reality is we are all capable if we do not have the power of the holy spirit in us.
Please keep the victims families (both Jessie and Cutts family) in your prayers and lets stay away from all the negativities.

Its time the black community steps up and starts holding themselves accountable instead of blaming the victim(s), society or media covereage for these violent crimes. Individuals make decisions based on free-will and need to be held accountable for their actions.

No one deserves to be murdered, regardless of their personal life habits, race or creed. For someone to insinuate that she deserved this because of her personal life, is pathetic.

He will be tried convicted and hung out to dry by the legal system. The uproar in this case...

-is not because he is a victim of self hatred and loathing in his own personal life
-is not because he doesn't cherish the sanctity of marriage or have a healthy respect for women in general
-is not because he violated his duties as an officer of the law to protect and serve

-it IS because he murdered a pregnant woman killing both her and her unborn (but near term) child.

This particular crime since Lacey Peterson has been moved up from state to federal. This act is so heinous so vile that an eternity of prison rape wouldn't be a fair punishment. He deserves nothing short of death.

How typical to divert attention from this murderer's race by trying to make it a case of racism. As others have pointed out she was MISSING, like Lacy Peterson, not found dead as in the other case you bring up. And by the way the FBI is not looking for Osama Bin Laden because the FBI investigates domestic crimes and does not search oversees for interational criminals. With that said, I am well aware of the Scott/Lacey Peterson case, still Anonymous (reply #27) you have failed to acknowledge continuous discrepancies in media coverage when it comes to missing minorities - particularly women.

AGAIN, where is the media coverage on Stepha Henry? Where was the national media and Texas Equusearch for Jimella Tunstall and her children last year? Where was the national media for Tynesha Stewart, a Texas A&M engineering student, who had been missing and later discovered killed by her ex-boyfriend during spring break THIS YEAR?

I think YOU are the one with racial issues because you can't seem to acknowledge that the media continuously cover missing black and minority women differently or with less urgency. You are just as complicit because can't seem to acknowledge this fact.

Perhaps the media and society in general are desensitized to reporting these missing minority females that you mention because 1) these are status quo crimes which are seen everynight on the news from black neighborhoods committing more crimes than any other race, and it's more newsworthy because they happen to whites less often even thou the white population is significantly higher, and 2) we don't know they kind of pressure has been put on the media by these families to get them the most exposure possible - ex. the Holloway girl. You're making the media out as a single conglomerate that makes case by case decisions based on race; it's based on what's newsworthy and ratings. It's not fair, or right to all victims of these types of crimes because they all deserver as much attention as possible, but it's the truth and market driven, not a conspiracy against one race.

As far as giving it a break, Terrance, you stirred the pot with your racial insinuations and I thought the "rawness" of your site could handle the heat that YOU deliberately stirred up, which I found randomly on google. Obviously you only want to hear about views that coincide with your own.

I'm sure we could come up with just the same number of missing white, latina or asian women, as you mentioned in your black women cases, if we dug for them, as you obviously have.

You're obviously in denial; sack-up and be a man and stop whining.

Your comment is interesting, Anonymous #20. You keep making excuses. And instead of admitting that race seems to play a role in media coverage of missing persons, you keep making excuses that fall very flat and make you look BAD.

You keep avoiding the truth that missing white women get more urgency in the mainstream/major media.

It's okay though.

Also, if such crimes happen to whites less often then why wasn't the Christopher Vaughn case covered more aggressively?

With your logic, the Vaughn case should have had the bigger headlines. After all, whites, as you say, are not victims of such "status quo" crimes as much as blacks.

With your logic, perhaps the media and general public were "densensitized" to the white on white violence of Christopher Vaughn? Which would mean that white people commit more crime than you are willing to admit.

With your logic suggesting that blacks do commit more crime, you would have to admit that the Cutts/Davis story was covered more aggressively because of racial overtones. I am sure that you aren't willing to admit that. Yet, you seem to want to have it both ways - media coverage of the Davis story is not based on race, but blacks commit more crime (disproportionally).

See how you have drowned in your own words and vomit?

Furthermore, your second point is utterly ridiculous and not even worthy of a response. You can't be serious.

For the record, I stand by everything I write on Terrence Says, but sometimes idiotic/unintelligent/repetitive comments that have nothing to do with the topic are annoying and unwarranted. And trust me, I can "dig in" with the best of them. But with you, I won't exhaust a lot of time on repetitive foolishness. BUT because I have the power here, I will delete your comments as I deem necessary.

And for the record, white people commit more crime in raw numbers in this country than any other racial or ethnic group - just an FYI.

Actually, there was national coverage on the tragic Newsome/Christian murders. I saw it on Paula Zahn Now, O'Reilly and Hannity and Colmes.

Have you heard about the story of the white gay serial killer in Louisiana that murdered 23 minority men over a decade and was finally caught late last year?

**Ronald J. Dominique**

Not too much media coverage like the Jeffrey Dahmer murders - and Dominique was much worse.

Anyway, we can go back on forth on stories covered, uncovered and underreported by the media all day long, but nothing changes an observable fact that missing white women get urgent press coverage by majority/mainstream press moreso than missing minority women. Even many decent/fair-minded white people have noticed it.

I just look forward to the days that change CONSISTENTLY.

Hello, Terrance.

This is my first visit to your site. First, let me say that you state your opinions intelligently and factually.

And you are right.

This case shows up America's hypocrisy in its treatment, or mistreatment of black women in America in comparison to white women in America, in the media, and in America's collective conscious (or lack thereof, in having a conscious).

First, let me state that what was done to this woman is reprehensible. She and her unborn child are dead, and to those who said hateful comments about her, it shows their lack of humanity.

Two people are dead.

A mother and her child.

Whether a white mother, or any other woman of another race, this was a human being, and the hateful remarks about her being a "whore" etc., merely show the high disregard that is shown to her and the baby.

She is dead.

Let her and her baby rest in peace.

To the commentors who attacked her, save your rage for this man and all the men out there who abuse and destroy women and children on a daily basis. They are the ones you should direct your venom towards. If what happened to this woman offends those of you hurling hate around so much, then get up and join some of the domestic abuse organizations out there that seek to help women in abusive relationships. Get up and protest against and work against violence against women (of all colors) and join a rape crisis action organization.

Put your money where your mouth is.

Otherwise, STFU.

Now, Terrance, on to the statements you made.

Yes, you are right, non-white women in this country are given little to no media coverage when they come up missing and are murdered. It goes back to the behaviour of the wise founding fathers of this country; men who considered then that only white men had lives that were of more value than anyone else's life in this country.

And that showed the most in the double standard, racist, sexist mistreatment of non-white women in comparison to white women.

This double standard started in slavery, continued through Jim Crow segregation and is still with us in the legacy left behind that unless a woman is white, she has no value in this society. That any white woman who becomes involved with a black man is of low character. This stems from the abuse that white men meted out to black women. The constant daily rape and abuse of black women during slavery, and the white society that condoned barbaric mistreatment of black women. The mistreatment that continued unabated for almost 90 years, until legal segregation was taken off the law books. And the legacy of that devaluation of black women in comparison to white women is still with us. That those white men after slavery did not cease their continued abuse showed them as not having the balls to be men and to stop their cruel mistreatment of black women and girls. Instead the continued sexual degradation of black women and the continued pedophilia against little black girls continued. As a result of this mistreatment, black females have been left with a degraded status in America.

When a white woman comes up missing, the whole world comes out screaming, snotting and crying. All the search dogs, the US Cavalry, the FBI, the CIA, the Coast Guard, and everyone in between is mustered out to search for her.

When a black women goes missing, little to nary a peep is said. This callous disregard for black women is a still in effect in people's minds. Which leads to the elephant in the room:

It's about interracial sex.

That is why so many humans become enraged and psychotic over this case.

America's sick perverion of sex is bad enough; add to this the issue of race, and all the psychological depravities come to the surface.

A black man with a white woman causes all kinds of rage and psychotic responses (as evidenced by some of your commentors, Terrance). Therefore, if a white woman is with a black man, surely, she must have something wrong with her. She (according to the laws of the white man) is so pure and should never be defiled by the horrid black "brute" so, she obviously must have something wrong with her.

If this was a WM/WW dynamic, the response to it would have been entirely different, but since it involves a BM/WW, the screeching and cacophony is loud and ear-splitting.

That black women are accorded so litle value in thie society is the result of over 400 years of white male abuse. White male abuse that said it was okay to lay up with a black slave woman, sexually abuse her, get her pregnant, and then sell your own flesh and blood, your own son or daughter.

That is was okay to walk into a black family's home and have forced sex with the black mother, and with her daughter, left a collective conscious in this country that black women are to be debased, debauched, defiled, and devalued.

And the mistreatment of black women for over 400 years is the legacy of that mindset.

That is why so many people are in a rage about this case, Terrance. White women are pure and untouchable (the lie that white men have said since slavery in this country), and black women are degraded and devalued in this country ( through actions that white men enforced daily in their rapacious sexual assaults against black women and girls during segregation).

Therefore, black women are not to be given respect to their personhood, their womanhood, their humanity, thus they rate little to no coverage in the media.

It is America's sick, twisted perverted degradation of sex that has brought this country to the state of mind it has towards interracial sex.

That white men used and degraded black women sexually has left a devaluation of black women in this country. Nevermind that those black women who suffered at the hands of white men were more human than those white men could ever be. That white men have created the dichotomy of white woman/ pure=more value, and black woman/ impure=of less value, is what drives the reason behind why black women are considered as less than deserving of full protection in this country than white women.

Yes, Terrance, the white-run media does decide whose story it will cover, and no where is that so blatantly obvious than in this lop-sided mistreatment of black women and other women of color in this society when it comes to reporting on them.

This society exalts and worships whiteness. This society values all white life over non-white life, espcially black life.

This society upholds that unbearable lightness of whiteness as that which should be accorded value and recognition over all others who do not meet it physical standards, nor meet up to its racist and sexist hypocrisy.

Because of the devaluation of black women in this country by white men, black women are grudgingly given little if any respect. Because white women are valued over black women, they merit (or so the white man has said time after time after time) more consideration, more validation of their humanity, more regard as a woman and as a human being.

Black women on a daily basis are accorded none.

It's the interracial sex angle that is bringing out the frothing, foaming rage in many of your commentors, Terrance. It's the continued belief that black life has no value, that black life has no right to exist, that black life is held cheaply, in America.

This case shows all of that in how people respond to it.

Because of the history of white men forcing their syphilitic/gonorrhea-infected penises into black women during slavery and segregation, because of the publically and legally sanctioned sexualized gendered violence against black women done to them by white men, black women have no value, nor any rights that a white man, or any other man for that matter, is bound to respect, even in this day and age in the 21ST Century.

Therefore, media coverage of black women will continue to be scanty or non-existent, and media coverage of white women will continue to be plastered all over the news form the farthest rural town in America to the biggest metropolitan city, and all around the world.

It is America's sick obsession with sex and especially its lurid degrgadation of interracial sex that is the main driving force behind why black women have so little value in this country, and why white women have so much more.

The legacy of white men's mistreatment of black women is still with us.

Four hundred years of perversions, barbarities, atrocities, and depravities cannot and will not go away overnight.

The acts of white men from the past have left a devaluation of black women, and as a result of that black women are mistreated by the judicial system, the rest of society and especially the media.

Re: Some of the comments here, stats often lie. Arrest records don't tell use whether "blacks commit a grossly disproportionate amount of violent crime against whites" or anyone else; they simply tell us they get arrested for at higher rates. What we do know is that black-on-black crime is a real problem, and that in the area of, say, drug use and sales, African-Americans are more likely to sell in the street whereas nice suburban whitefolks keep their deals indoors where they aren't seen. There are also a lot fewer cop cars patrolling nice white suburban neighborhoods than there are inner-city areas. So whose crimes are more likely to be overlooked, and who is more likely to face disproportionate arrest rates? The conclusion you reach simply does not follow.

As for the folks who want to know why you can have a blog with "black" in the title and not "white"--remember when you were a kid and you asked your parents why there was a Mother's Day and a Father's Day, but no Children's Day? They said "Every day is Children's Day," didn't they? As long as "straight white male" is the default setting in this society and others have to define themselves against that, every day is White Man's Day. A blog that does not say "black," "female," "gay" will be presumed by most to be written by and for the white, the male, and the straight.

OK, you have got to be kiddin me. I agree that this story about Cutts has been a bit sensationalized however I agree with the reason. It was the sense of urgency and mystery. I for one knew Cutts was guilty from the very start. How you ask? Well I always think the sopouse or lover is guilty (regardless of race) in these types of crimes and guess what? I am right about 85% of the time. Why is that? Because statistically 85% of the time the guilty party is the spouse or lover. Yes Mark Hacking is a scumbag, Vaughn is a scumbag, Charles Stewart is a scumbag and most certainly Cutts is a scumbag. I didn't think old can't keep it in his pants Cutts was guilty because he is black, he is guilty because he did it as is the case in most of these crimes. The one thing I found quite telling was that when Bobby wanted the booty he went to the pretty white women, however when Bobby needed some dirty work done he went to Shanikwa or I mean Myisha. I guess them black women are good for cleaning up the mess created by their mens but not good enough to screw. Not racist, just an observation there Terrance. Also I love it when the news comes on and Sharpton is in the ghetto neighborhood with the people of the neighborhood spouting about stopping the violence there. Let me clue you in on something. It is not white people coming from other neighborhoods and producing violence in your neighborhood. It is in fact the inhabitants of your neighborhood (cousin Tyrone or innocent little Shamia) that is producing the violence. As far as I can tell the problem is taking care of itself. Get off the race card there buddy.

I find it fascinating that...

dissenting view = racism

Nowhere in any dictionary I have ever seen in my entire life are those synonymous...guess you learn something new every day.

See back in the old days people actually had to pay money to publish tripe like what is here. With the invention of the internet it makes it essentially free to say whatever you want, whenever you want. To back it up with any mundane facts you want...find people with sympathetic views no matter how woefully incorrect the position is.

I agree.

Terrence, if it were a Black woman, Latina or another woman of color, it wouldn't get nearly as much media concern, the media would villify the women based on every racist and gender stereotype out there and many people would just say they deserved it.

but then the woman is getting more villified than she was several days ago because she's in a relationship with a Black man. He's being stereotyped and of course, his actions just don't represent himself but all Black men. You would never find that kind of rationalization with White men who commit domestic violence and murder as happened with Vaughn(which I hadn't even heard about) and I think there's some thing about a wrestler killing his family and himself too. And a man who in my region killed himself and his family. They weren't villified as deserving it and he was painted as a victim himself.

The racist rhetoric on this thread is hardly surprising but it's as always, disappointing.

One thing that's not been discussed is the fact that the boyfriend was a police officer. Domestic violence is actually endemic in that profession, much higher than that found outside of it.

Wow, I'm not quite sure how I got here but have read every comment posted. Actually I am confused... Is this really the truth? Are black women really treated so poorly? It has opened my eyes to different views but I think bottom line it is disrespectful to turn such a tragedy into something about race. If you feel so strongly about RACE then that's fine talk about race or is it the media that pisses you off? Then do something about it, why associate it with a murder? How many people are killed everyday? Can the media cover every murder? Would you watch every murder on t.v? NO! I think more so that this is so publicized because the dude is a COP!(DIRTY COP! DOESN'T MATTER BLACK OR WHITE!) The woman was due in 2 weeks! Not because he is black and she is white.
Shame on whoever wrote those terrible things about this girl, she is dead..... Nobody black white purple yellow green ect. ect. deserves this type of bashing. You say she is terrible because she had children with a married man? HE also had children without his wife!!
I apologize for all these awful comments on this blog, black/white married/slut/race. (someone needs to be sorry I guess that will be me)
Terrance, Thanks for opening my eyes but really go after the media... leave this family alone.

I am so sick of hearing "BECAUSE OF RACE"! This whole issue with Bobby Cutts and Christopher Vaughn...who cares!! They are both pigs! What about Scott Peterson? He was white! He did an awful thing and got media coverage?
What happened to Jesse Davis was a horrible thing and my heart goes out to her family. My heart also goes out to the women he has hurt in the past. Bobby Cutts was a dirty cop. It doesn't matter what color he is. If he were a white man he would have the same attention! How much can the media cover? These comments have been blown out of context and has turned the attention elsewhere when we as a nation should be greiving for Jesse Davis and her family. Now it's all about you and your thoughts. Have you even considered the situation and the poor family? You probably think he is innocent don't you?
The black community is so quick to judge white people! Do you think it would be in the papers if a black person shoots a white person? NO! You don't hear about the black person that shoots the white person do you? No! You don't! But it is made clear when the white person shoots the black person! That's when Rev Al Sharpton sticks his nose where is doesn't belong! If you ask me ...I think he is racist! The race card needs to come to an end! It's always the white mans fault. Don't get me wrong...I have plenty of black friends and I respect them. It's the ones that abuse the situation that don't want to take the responsibility for what happened!

This is my first time here and I've come via Rachel's link. I'm from Canton, Ohio and have been following the chatter about Jessie and Chloe for some days now.

Don't get me wrong...I have plenty of black friends and I respect them. It's the ones that abuse the situation that don't want to take the responsibility for what happened!

I'm curious as to which situation you're referring. Are you saying that all Black folks should take responsibility for what happened to Jessie? Are you saying that there aren't enough people speaking up about what happened to her, her son, and her daughter? Because that's completely asinine. I weep for you if you think that all Black folks are 1)like Bobby Cutts and/or 2)responsible for his selfish and evil behavior.

From all that I've read on this particular subject, most people are having discussions regarding Cutts' & Jessie's races, and not the underlying fact that a sick bastard killed his girlfriend (because he was a consensual partner in that relationship, though some people can't seem to understand that- her being the whoring adulteress and all-/snark) but the fact that a Black man was involved with a white woman and, oh yeah, killed her. The media, of course, knows this is good for ratings and turns up the heat. That's a damned shame. But that's the way America is. The American viewing public don't want to hear about Jimella Tunstall, they don't want to talk about her, and she's not going to raise the ratings. So, Terrance is right on in his assessment. If Jessie had been Juanita and Cutts been Carlos, then we'd all talking about something else right now. Like Paris and her jail stint. It's disgusting.

I'd also like to note that there's no reason anyone should be anonymous, as there's an "other" option if you don't have a Blogger account. Funny that so many failed to used that.

Are you serious? You are calling Jesse Davis a whore? That just makes me sick! The whore in the case is Bobby Cutts! He was on a dating site... had kids from multiple girls...who is the whore now? She was young and naive woman whom Bobby kept her holding on. You should be ashamed for even saying that. Like you're a saint!

I am not saying that all Black folks should take responsibilitiy for what happened to Jesse! I was refering to the overall race card you, well the black folks use. They use the race card everytime they are arrested or accused of crimes.
I don't think all black folks are the same!

As far as what happened he is in the media because he is a dirty cop.... and the fact that she was missing. I wrote in because I am upset at the fact that main conern on this page is because Bobby Cutts get's the media attention because he is black and Christopher Vaughn doesn't because he is white. Believe me there are plenty of evil white people in this world! Most all serial killers are! Look at Scott Peterson... look at what he did! Lacy was missing... that is what sparked the media!

Yes... the fact that Paris and her jail stint...that is disgusting! She is a pig. But what celeb doesn't get media attention.

As far as you.... you are just the same as the rest...sticking up and using the card!

Can you read? Or do you not know what snark is? Many of the people commenting on this case believe Jessie to be a whore (and got what she deserved according to thembecause she got pregnant two times without being married. Are you not paying attention?

You should be ashamed for even saying that. Like you're a saint!

You should re-read what I wrote very slowly so that you will see my intentional mockery of people that think exactly that of Jessie.

I am not saying that all Black folks should take responsibilitiy for what happened to Jesse! I was refering to the overall race card you, well the black folks use. They use the race card everytime they are arrested or accused of crimes.

Yes, you are. You just did it again. You're insinuating that because Bobby Cutts is a murderer and was charged as such that "they" (meaning all Black folks) are using "the race card".

Can you please tell me how much attention was paid to those missing Women of Color that Terrance mentioned? Or the ones that he didn't? Have you ever even heard of Jimella Tunstall before this article? Because I certainly hadn't. Did you read the link provided? If not, why?

I can understand the media frenzy while she was missing. I helped search for her body (sorry, guess I should've mentioned my "creds" first, huh?), but after her body was found it became something else. Now there is speculation about her character and why she'd be with him (and many commenters on many sites have decided it was her fault because he's black and so he doesn't know better...heh- snark again in case you don't recognize it).

As far as you.... you are just the same as the rest...sticking up and using the card!

Sticking up what exactly? Sticking up for Bobby Cutts? Um, that would be a no. Bobby Cutts is an evil piece of donkey excrement. Tiffany Hall is a piece of donkey excrement too. What? You don't know who she is? Truly shocking (and proves Terrance's point perfectly).

To some of these anonymous white seeming people here - look, I *do* blame racism/white supremacy for quite a lot of things, and I think that is quite reasonable given the historical record. Keep in mind that it casts a long shadow. And yes I do think every individual white person is responsible - we benefited historically and still benefit from the system, even when poor.

First off, it's not that blacks commit a disproportionate amount of crime. It's that black crime is disproportionately scrutinized and reported. A crime is committed and all folks have to do is think a black man committed it and the cops will arrest several different black men whether they did it or not.
Second, a crime was committed. Not one black person is saying that Jessie Marie Davis deserved to die or that Bobbie Cutts deserves to be free. If he did the crime, then he should fry. What we're saying is that the reporting of it versus the other crimes is racist and prejudicial. People need to stop acting as if, somehow, black people who notice these disparities are being defensive, speculative or race-baiting.

I know this is going to be absolutely hard to believe, but not everything is always about race all the time in any way and every way.

I didn't even know who Bobby Cutts was until I found your blog. I was researching Christopher Vaughn and the "Oswego family murder" due to seeing it on the news quite a bit.

I am not sure why everything has to be "Black and White" with some people. Your allegations need to be substantiated before you can it a fact. Just because your delusional thoughts and paranoia are getting in the way, doesn't mean that the whole world is against you just because you are black. I would like to see your proof, which I am sure you have NONE.

I would like to tell you to go see a qualified shrink (White, Black, Purple, Pink, etc), but don't want to be considered racist for saying so.

As we all know, that statement would've been, completely and utterly, racially motivated.

I sit around ALL DAY, along with all of my White friends, family, coworkers, acquaintances, neighbors, city workers, strangers, former kindergarten, elementary, high school, undergradute and graduate school teachers wondering how I can bring the Black man down. Bobby Cutts was a TEXTBOOK SOCIOPATH. SOCIOPATHS are pathological liars. That pretty little girl would have had nothing to do with his monstrously ugly azz if he was honest and upfront about his situation. He is a monster...who killed a pregnant woman....and HOMEBOY finally admitted to it. He still lied in his admission and said he elbowed her...when the coroner said she was strangled .... but he is going away forever, and I hope the general population rips your friend open on a daily basis so that he wil eventually require a colostomy bag for the rest of his natural life.
And I agree with what anonymous said about him not wanting to eff with black chicks until he needed them to do his dirty work. Therien lies the irony. Stop being preoccupied with the victims race, instead take a look at what he did to the sister who is going down with him.
STUPID ASS.

P.S. I dont need to be anonymous, but I dont feel like joining a blogspot where animals like yourself blame the victim just because she was white.
